Tourism does not ‘mortify’ in Vung Tau

Visitors can’t expect Vung Tau to have fewer visitors on vacation but can avoid crowded and chaotic scenes if they know how to choose the right accommodation and places to eat.

Crowded beaches, packed restaurants… are familiar images in Vung Tau (Ba Ria – Vung Tau) on weekends or holidays, Tet. On the upcoming holiday of April 30, the number of tourists to Vung Tau is expected to be larger than the holiday for the anniversary of the death of the ancestors.

Visitors should prepare reservations, search for places to eat in advance, and plan from now on so as not to fall into a passive situation when services are overloaded on vacation.

Move

The distance between Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau is more than 100 km long. Visitors can travel by bus, private car or motorbike.

If traveling by motorbike or car from Ho Chi Minh City, you can move towards Thu Thiem. Here, you can go by car to Long Thanh – Dau Giay highway or by motorbike or car via Cat Lai ferry to Nhon Trach (Dong Nai), then go straight on Highway 51 to Ba Ria – Vung Tau.

Travelers should choose to depart from Ho Chi Minh City at 4-5am or 21-22pm to avoid traffic jams when coming to Vung Tau city center. As noted on weekends and public holidays, traffic jams in Vung Tau usually start from 9-11am. Evenings are usually from 19:00 to 20:00.

If you want to make the most of your time off, you can choose to take a bus with prices ranging from 150,000 VND/16-seat regular car or 200,000 VND/9-seater limousines. This route has many reputable bus companies such as Huy Hoang, Hoa Mai, Phuong Trang, Toan Thang…

Choose a property with a private beach

Instead of jostling between the sea of people at the beach, visitors should choose accommodation spots with private beaches. In return for convenience, privacy is a higher cost than regular accommodation.

Resorts and hotels with private beaches in Vung Tau usually have prices ranging from 2 million VND/night. Some hotels with private beaches in the city center you can refer to are Imperial, Léman Cap, Marina Bay Vung Tau…

If you go in a large group, you can choose to rent an apartment at Aria Vung Tau. There are 2-3 bedroom apartments or sea view villas. This resort also has a private beach right behind the apartments and a beachfront swimming pool. The rental price is also from 2 million VND/night.

These locations often fill up quickly or increase prices close to the holidays. You should book a room now if you plan to stay on the upcoming 30/4.

‘Chill’ night at the bar

Along Ha Long and Thuy Van streets, night markets are often packed with people in the evenings on public holidays. To avoid breathing in the dust on the road, you can spend the late evening at a small bar.

Located on the bustling Ba Cu street, US Bar is for visitors who want to feel the slow but modern life of the coastal city at night. The shop has a small, cozy space, in contrast to the crowded traffic scene on Ba Cu Street.

The restaurant space is suitable for many customers. The bar is always available for solo diners. The table area for 2-3 people still ensures privacy. The group is larger, talking loudly does not affect the surrounding because the music is played quite loudly but not as noisy as in beer bars or nightclubs.

The shop is usually crowded between the hours of 20-22h. Diners should book a table in advance or ask about the number of guests at the bar before coming if they do not want to enjoy alcohol in a crowded space.

Skip the famous food spots

Finding a place to eat is a headache story for many diners when traveling. Specialty eateries, and famous restaurants on major roads are always overloaded on holidays.

To avoid the situation of “going to 10 restaurants and can’t find a place to eat”, you should choose new locations, and list 5-7 places.

Instead of eating seafood or specialties, you can go to Kozak restaurant specializing in serving Russian food on Nguyen Tri Phuong street. The price here ranges from 300,000-500,000 VND/person. This cost is equivalent to a meal at a seafood night market, the space is more open and empty.

To enjoy seafood specialties, you should go to seafood markets such as Xom Luoi market on Nguyen Cong Tru street to find and buy fresh seafood to bring back to Ho Chi Minh City.
