Three days in Ta Xua of a boy in the South who loves the Northwest
SON LA – Le Huynh lives in Ho Chi Minh City, has always loved the Northern highlands and has visited many times, most recently a three-day trip to Ta Xua.
Huynh, 26 years old, is an office worker who loves to travel. In his spare time, he often researches roads, weather, scenery… in places in the Northwest and goes on the road at any suitable time.
At the end of August, Huynh flew from Ho Chi Minh City with a friend to Hanoi . They joined the group with two other people and then took the car to Ta Xua (Bac Yen town, Son La province). ) for 3 days and 2 nights.
“I chose Ta Xua because I was impressed with the back of the dinosaur . This is one of the places I want to go the most in the Northwest region,” he shared.
The total cost of the trip per person from Hanoi is about 1.6 million VND.
Ta Xua is more than 200 km from Hanoi, you can go by motorbike, car or passenger car. Huynh’s group chose a limousine with a travel time of nearly 5 hours. Round trip ticket price is 620,000 VND per person. In Ta Xua, the group rented motorbikes to actively move. Price is 150,000 VND per car.
Huynh knows that Ta Xua is most beautiful from November to March every year. The weather in August is erratic, rainy and sunny, and difficult to predict. However, he still decided to go because he took advantage of his free time.
The three places that Huynh went to in Ta Xua were the spines of the dinosaurs – the favorite cloud hunting spot for many backpackers, the dolphin’s snout and the lonely tree. Dinosaur spine is located in Hang Dong, Bac Yen district. “The last part, if you want to get to the back, walk about a kilometer or rent a motorbike taxi there for 60,000 VND round-trip. The road is very bad, so you need to choose cars with extra chains on the wheels, to grip the road better.” Huynh said.
When Huynh arrived at the dolphin’s tip, it was very blind, so the picture was not beautiful and there were a lot of people. The lonely tree was not far away, on a small hill. Standing from the top, you can see the Suoi Sap River. The water this season is cloudy, not clear.
Homestay Huynh chooses to be located on a high hill, separate from the town center. The room price is 400,000 VND per night. The group rode motorbikes from the bottom of the hill to the top. “The first part is flat, you can drive, but the end is steep so you can only walk. There is no wifi here, the phone signal is weak, so it is almost impossible to access the internet,” Huynh said.
Because of not being able to connect with the outside world, Huynh had days of complete rest, immersed in the unspoiled nature of the Northwest mountains. They spend a lot of time chatting and making friends with other groups of tourists in the same homestay. “We got to know four freshmen, also from Hanoi. They were easy-going, fun. We all talked and played games until late. Those are happy memories that I will remember. this trip,” he said.
Local people also make a strong impression on Huynh by his honesty, gentleness and friendliness. The owner of the inn where Huynh was staying, when he knew that a group of guests wanted to take pictures, took the initiative to let them know when the weather was nice and cloudy. Although the weather was not as good as expected, with little sunshine, he was still very impressed with the enthusiasm of the host.
Huynh has many emotions in this quick trip. “Everything was great. I made many new friends. The local people are kind. The scenery is beautiful. Ta Xua is not beautiful in the majestic way like Ha Giang, but still attracts me by its lightness.”
In terms of cuisine, Huynh likes black chicken hot pot the most because “suitable to eat on chilly evenings”. He mainly eats at restaurants in the town center, having meals at homestay if convenient. Food is commented by Huynh as being suitable for taste and affordable.
Before Ta Xua, he had been to Ha Giang , Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai), Van Ho (Son La), Y Ty (Lao Cai), Mai Chau. (Hoa Binh). He plans to return to the North in October to go to Cao Bang or the westernmost tip.
