Ban Viet Lake is located in the area of 2 hamlets Ban Viet and Tan Phong hamlets, in Phong Chau commune, Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang province. According to the Cao Bang Cultural and Tourism Information Center, this is a freshwater lake, renovated by humans in 1967, 5ha wide, 50m deep and stretches over 6km.
In fact, Ban Viet lake is divided into 4 branches, mainly used for the purpose of regulating water for irrigation of agricultural land of the people here as well as some hamlets in the surrounding area.
However, because it is surrounded by mountains with diverse and rich vegetation, it has attracted a large number of tourists in the past few years. Especially in the fall, the back forest, also known as the deep May tree, maple incense or Bach Giao Huong around the lake will change color, putting on a beautiful yellow, red or pink shirt.

To get to Ban Viet lake, visitors can choose to ride a motorbike or a car. Although the mountain road is somewhat winding, the terrain is flat so it is quite easy to go.
Tourists depart from Cao Bang city, go through Trung Khanh town about 8km, turn right along the new rural road and go another 3km, you will come to Ban Viet lake.
Here, fun activities and experiences are all geared toward how people can be in harmony with nature. These can be mentioned as forest hiking, mountain climbing, camping, boating on the lake or with indigenous people participating in agricultural harvesting activities and visiting the houses on stilts – their residence.

Besides the back forest, next to the lake there is also a field of white cabbage, which is arranged in layers according to a structure like a terraced field. In winter, this area will turn white when the mustard flowers bloom, creating a very beautiful scene.
