See the first pedestrian street along the Saigon River in Binh Duong province
With a length of nearly 1km, and invested capital of more than 650 billion VND, the first pedestrian street in Binh Duong province was completed and put into use after 5 years of construction. This is the project that the Binh Duong people have been waiting for the most because it is bordered by the Saigon River with charming scenery.
This is the Saigon River, the section through Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province. In recent years, Binh Duong province has invested in building an extended Bach Dang road running along this river.
The extended Bach Dang road project has a total length of 970m, including one main line and two branch lines. The investment amount for the project is about 650 billion VND from the state budget. In which, the construction cost is about 430 billion VND, the rest is the cost of compensation for site clearance…
The work has 7.5m wide road surface on each side, 1.5m wide median strip, 4m wide corridor on one side.
Notably, the 15m wide pedestrian street park running along the banks of the Saigon River is a project that people, especially young people in Binh Duong, have long awaited.
Currently, the park is planted with many trees, built miniatures, installed street lights…
When the project is put into use and connected to Bach Dang street, it will create a landscape axis along the banks of the Saigon River, stretching from Bach Dang wharf to Phu Cuong bridge.
Thu Dau Mot City People’s Committee said that this road along with the pedestrian street along the Saigon River will be put into operation on the occasion of National Day 2.9.
Notably, Bach Dang pedestrian street will be arranged with subdivisions such as: Culture, art, entertainment and entertainment areas; general sales area; food, dining, souvenirs, handicrafts… Since then, gradually develop various types of services, cultural tourism associated with the rich traditional land of Thu Dau Mot.
Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee said that provincial leaders have just inspected and surveyed the route along the Saigon River, the section from Thu Dau Mot city to Thuan An city is 3km long. Currently, 1.3km has been completed, the province is studying to allocate capital to implement the next 1.7km section.
In the future, Binh Duong province will continue to build roads along the Saigon River in Thuan An and Thu Dau Mot. The development of transport infrastructure along the Saigon River will create momentum for the development of urban areas, services and tourism along this river route.

The Bach Dang pedestrian street project was approved by the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province from mid-2011. By August 2017, the project was started.
The project has a total length of 970m, including a main line and two branch lines, with a land use area of nearly 40,000 m2. The investment amount for the project is about 650 billion VND from the state budget, of which the construction cost is about 434 billion VND, the rest is compensation and site clearance costs.
This section of road connects from Bach Dang – Ngo Quyen intersection (Phu Cuong ward) runs along the Saigon River, goes under Phu Cuong bridge and ends at Huynh Van Cu – Nguyen Van Cu intersection (Chanh My ward).
The work has a road surface of 7.5m wide on each side, with a width of 1.5m, a corridor of 4m wide on one side, and a pedestrian park with a width of 15m running along the banks of the Saigon River; The park includes many trees, small landscape items, drainage system, street lights and modern decorative lights.
According to the leader of Thu Dau Mot city, the original plan, the project will be completed and put into use from the end of 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 epidemic and ground clearance, it has only been completed until now. .
On September 2, Thu Dau Mot City People’s Committee will hold an inauguration ceremony and put it into use. However, in recent days, local people have come to Bach Dang street to have fun, especially young people.
The project is put into use and connects to Bach Dang street, creating a landscape axis along the banks of the Saigon River, stretching from Bach Dang wharf to Phu Cuong bridge.
In addition to charming landscapes for people to watch the river, walk at night, the project has a connection road to improve traffic and reduce the load on Huynh Van Cu street. This is the first pedestrian street project in Binh Duong, similar to Bach Dang Wharf in Ho Chi Minh City.
Bach Dang pedestrian street is arranged with subdivisions such as: Cultural, arts, entertainment and entertainment areas; general sales area; food, dining, souvenirs, handicrafts… Since then, gradually develop various types of services and cultural tourism associated with the traditional land of Thu Dau Mot.
In addition to this pedestrian street along the Saigon River, Binh Duong province is surveying to implement a 3km long route from Thu Dau Mot city to Thuan An city.
