Precious flowers of Hoang Lien Son mountain and forest go down the street to celebrate Tet
In the early days of December, gardeners in the highlands of Sa Pa (Lao Cai province) started selling precious orchids to serve high-income customers to play the Lunar New Year.
Households selling Tet flowers in Sa Pa town said that this year, at least 5,000 pots of Tran Mong orchids will be sold to the market, an increase of about 30% compared to the previous year, but the selling price is still high.
Tran Mong Sa Pa orchid, which is a rare flower of the Hoang Lien Son natural forest, was brought by Sa Pa people to grow and sell to serve the Tet flower market and propagate it for mass planting by tissue transplantation.
Tran Mong orchids are cared for to bloom on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, serving the needs of spring guests. This flower helps many farmers in Sa Pa town collect hundreds of millions, even billions, every year-end.
Tran Mong orchids have a lemon yellow or turquoise color, when blooming, they give off a seductive scent. Flowers bloom for 2-3 months.
Mr. The Kieu, a famous orchid garden owner in Cat Cat village, Phan Si Pang ward, said that on this occasion, 300 pots of Tran Mong orchids were sold, including the 20 most beautiful pots with 50 flower branches each. Wholesale goods from Hanoi to order all at the price of 30 million VND/pot.
He said the current price of flowers has not decreased compared to the previous Tet because it is just the beginning of the season.
The current selling price of Tran Mong Sa Pa orchid, type 1 has long flower branches, many buds, beautiful leaf shape 400 – 500 thousand VND/branch; type 2 costs 250-300 thousand VND/branch; type 3 short flower stems, small flower buds, priced at 100-200 thousand VND/branch. The price of each flower pot multiplied by the number of branches in the pot.
Along National Highway 4D today, December 31, from Sa Pa tourist town down to Lao Cai city, the two sides of the road are filled with Tran Mong orchids brought by gardeners from Ta Phin, Pan Si Pang, Ham Dragon, Trung Chai … go down to avoid the cold and sell to serve tourists.
