People flock for the holidays, and the gateways of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are stuck for a long time
This afternoon (August 31) many roads and gateways of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City experienced congestion because people took advantage of returning to their hometown for a holiday or traveling on the occasion of National Day September 2.
From 16:00 on August 31, a series of main roads connecting to the gateways of the capital such as Ring 3, Khuat Duy Tien – Nguyen Xien, Tran Nhat Duat – Chuong Duong bridge, Giai Phong,… prolonged blockage.
Recorded by PV VTC News at Ring Road 3, from the afternoon of August 31, thousands of vehicles were jammed, causing this place to be stuck both on high and in the lane below.
The number of vehicles is too crowded, causing serious congestion on Nguyen Trai Street.
A section of Giai Phong road was crowded with traffic at 17:30 today.
At the intersection between Giai Phong – Ngoc Hoi Street (Nuoc Ngam Bus Station Crossroads), many vehicles have to wait until the fourth traffic light to move through.

Many people take advantage of the holidays to return home, causing traffic pressure at the roads connecting to the capital’s gateway to increase at off-peak hours.
Many people expressed fatigue because they had to wait to catch the bus under the ring road 3.
Pham Hung Street at 18:00 is “crowded” with traffic.
Around 19:00 on the Ngoc Hoi intersection with Giai Phong, the traffic jam was long.
Viewed from above, the flow of cars is almost stationary because the turns are all jammed.
In Ho Chi Minh City, after the last working session before going home for the National Day holiday on September 2, the number of vehicles from Ho Chi Minh City towards the western provinces increased, causing many roads to be jammed.
As recorded by PV VTC News, after 5:00 p.m., hundreds of thousands of people poured into the streets, causing traffic jams in the city’s gateway area.
From National Highway 1A, the gateway area towards the western provinces, many roads in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City have had serious traffic jams. The section from Binh Dien Bridge to the intersection at Bui Thanh Khiet Street has nearly 2km of traffic jams.Hundreds of passenger cars, cars and motorbikes line up in long lines. Many families bring their children back to their hometown on the occasion of the long holiday.
Many adults and children are quite tired when they have to squeeze in a busy line of people.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ba (39 years old, from Ben Tre) was worried when this trip brought his small child back to his hometown.“When I was at home, I was very happy when I was about to go back to my hometown to meet my grandparents, but on the way I saw my son constantly saying that he was tired, which made me quite worried, afraid that he would be sick again when he returned to his hometown. Therefore, after going for a while, I stopped the car on the side of the road for my son to rest, drink water, and then continue on.”
At the intersections, there are traffic police officers standing to regulate, but due to the increasing number of people and vehicles, there is a long traffic jam on the above road.A traffic policeman in this area said that after 5pm the number of vehicles began to increase gradually, because this route has many industrial zones, the time of the flow of people to the countryside coincides with the company’s shift time. Therefore, the constant flow of cars in and out, workers mixed with the flow of people returning to their hometown, makes traffic in this area become overloaded.
Many people who ride motorbikes to their hometowns carrying junk are easy to cause collisions with surrounding vehicles.
Towards evening, the traffic in the area was still congested, with vehicles moving slowly one after another.
