Hunter found a 16-story “huge” honeycomb weighing 21kg in the border forest
A hunter in Ha Tinh hunted a beehive up to 16 floors, 1.3m long, weighing about 21kg in the forest area bordering Laos.
The hunting season for wild bees in Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province usually starts from July to September of the lunar calendar. One day at the end of the crop, Mr. Nguyen Kim Dung (35 years old, residing in Tay Son town, Huong Son district) went hunting in the forest area of Son Kim 2 commune, Huong Son district, bordering Laos.
Mr. Nguyen Kim Dung used binoculars to detect a large beehive on a 15m high Agarwood tree. This honeycomb has 16 floors, is about 1.3m long, and weighs about 21kg. According to Mr. Dung, this is a species of bee that bites leaves.
“This is a large beehive that we have never seen, perhaps the largest in the Central region ever. I went with two people, but they were afraid and did not dare to take it,” Mr. Dung said.
Dung made a bold decision to take down this hive himself. After putting on protective gear, he climbed up and cut down the branches around the hive.
Next, this hunter uses a “trick” to drive away the bees. However, the bees are very aggressive, just touching the branches or hearing strange noises they rush to attack.
Because he has not encountered such a large beehive, the steps to bring the hive to the ground are carefully done by Mr. Dung. Because, the worker only needs to accidentally hit the tree branch and it will break or cause the beehive to fall to the ground. After more than an hour, while cutting branches and tying ropes, Mr. Dung was able to bring the “huge” beehive to the ground.
Next, Mr. Dung asked his companion to help carry the beehive out of the forest and then drove it home by motorbike.
When he saw Mr. Dung carrying the beehive, many people were surprised and came to take pictures.
The “terrible” beehive was then sold by Mr. Dung to a local for 2 million VND.
Mr. Dung has 4 years working as a wild bee-hunter. Every day, this man goes from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and collects an average of over 10 beehives.
