Hanoi has 3 ‘old’ dormitories but contains top-notch delicacies that can’t be found anywhere else.
In the capital, if you want to eat well, you must go to the old dormitories.
Following the vortex of life, new apartment buildings in Hanoi sprang up like mushrooms, gradually replacing the old dormitories. However, for the people of the capital, the image of the yellow walled houses, climbing stairs or public playgrounds is still fresh in their memory.

Most importantly, in that “old” place is also the “food country” of generations of Ha Thanh people. There are dishes you can’t like in a luxury restaurant, but it’s easy to nod and compliment when you sit and enjoy in a corner of the yard.
And in addition to the famous “food paradises” such as Nghia Tan, Trung Tu or Dong Xuan, there are still dormitories with many delicious dishes but not everyone knows.
KIM LIEN TEAM
Some people often confuse the Kim Lien dormitory with Trung Do, these two buildings are located right next to each other in the Dong Da district. Because of that, sometimes the restaurants here are forgotten, it takes only a “gourmet” to find the address of the famous jelly or sticky rice braised pork belly.
Miss Ha pearl jelly tea

Previously, a tea shop with pearl jelly, or jelly tea – jelly was sold at the C8 playground of the dormitory, but about two years ago, the owner moved into a house about 300m away. One of the most popular dishes here is pearl jelly tea. On hot days, there is a cup of sweet tea, scented with jasmine flowers, the feeling of drinking is cool. Eat together with soft, chewy coconut pearls, mixed with homemade tea jelly, delicious and strangely harmonious.
In addition to pearl tea jelly, this shop also has yogurt jelly, passion fruit and hot cassava tea (sold in winter).

Mannequin, filter cake
Address: Opposite 101B7 Thanh Cong
Selling price: 20k – 30k
Opening hours: 14h – 18h30
Around the Thanh Cong collective area, there are many mannequins and filter cakes, however, the goods in front of the gate of Thanh Cong Water Factory are rated higher by the people. Although it is only sold on the sidewalk, the space is relatively clean, the mannequin is always fresh, the water is rich, and the mouth is full. Another plus point is that the filter cake here has a not too thick crust, looks awkward, and the filling is just right.

THE NORTH SPRING GROUP
The Thanh Xuan Bac collective is associated with the once-popular Bach Hoa Thanh Xuan place, located right on the crowded Nguyen Trai street. However, it takes someone who has lived here for a long time to know which nooks and crannies have good food.

If you “fall in love” with Nam Dinh’s specialty cake, you definitely can’t ignore this little patty. The space is small and small, just a trolley, but here, you will witness the owner of the shop hand molding each cake. The flour is kneaded with eggs and butter, mixed with the cake filling from char siu and quail eggs, so that, just walking from the entrance to the entrance, we can smell the characteristic and fragrant cake.
