Visit the family garden of Mrs. Hoang Thi Lan (52 years old, residing in Son Ninh commune, Huong Son district) dozens of filling trees with bunches of gifts laden with black branches.
“In this area, there are a few trees at least a few trees, a lot of houses have dozens of trees. My family has 10 black canola trees, including 6 canola trees that have been harvested for decades. Filling is one price a year, this year is a season of fillings with a more expensive price than last year, so our relatives are very excited,” said Ms. Lan.

Sharing with reporters, an official of the Son Ninh Commune People’s Committee said that black gum is an easy plant to grow, suitable for mountainous areas, and harvests a season each year from mid-July to October of the lunar calendar.
In the past, people paid little attention to fertilizing, just letting the tree grow naturally, so it took 7-8 years to harvest. Now, black filling is considered a commodity product, so people continue to grow and develop.
In the whole commune, there are more than 350 households growing black fillings. In the harvest season, each household can earn from 10 to 50 million VND.
Present in a number of communes in the mountainous district of Huong Son, the reporter noted that almost all the households here have black canola trees in their gardens.
Black filling can be processed into many strange and attractive dishes.
According to research, the black canola trees have brought a fairly stable income to the households. In the years of severe weather, the number of canola trees bearing fruit is small, but each household still earns from 4 million VND or more.
Ms. Vo Thi Huong (66 years old, living in hamlet 5, Son Giang commune, Huong Son district) said that her family owns two large canola trees that are decades old.
This year, the fillings are bought a lot by traders, the selling price is also high from 90,000-120,000 VND/kg. Every year in the season, these 2 fillings also bring the family nearly 10 million VND.
Ms. Vo Thi Huong is excited because this year’s harvest will be filled.
“These fillings have been planted by my family for decades, now it’s time to pick them up and sell them, no need to take care of them anymore.
This year, black fillings have a good season, get a good price, and sell much more expensive than last year. My family has few trees, so they mobilize their family members to climb and pick, while families with many trees and do not have time to harvest will have traders come to the place to pick and buy them,” said Ms. Huong excitedly.
In recent years, black fillings of Huong Son district have been widely consumed in provinces and cities throughout the country. In addition to the amount of retail fillings at markets, at the point of purchase, traders also collect tons of fruit, bringing in hundreds of millions of dong for the people.
Black coating is purchased by traders and sold to the market for VND 90,000-120,000.

Black fillings in Huong Son district in previous years were often bought by traders from Nghe An province. However, in recent years, many local production facilities have directly purchased and processed locally.
After estimating the quantity of each tree, the traders will advance money to the growers in advance, and the trees with good quality, after purchasing this crop, they will also deposit for the next crop.
