Taking guests to visit the farm, Mr. Son said, from a young age, he was very fond of gardening and dreamed of having an orchard when he reached the age of 50. Luckily, his eldest son Tuan Anh also has one. passion like his father, so he oriented his son in the field of agriculture and forestry.

Graduating from Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, majoring in Crop Science, in 2017, Mr. Tuan Anh, Mr. Son’s son, continued to study in Israel with a work-study program.

Two years later, he returned home, worked at a company specializing in growing avocados and durians in Dak Nong for a year, then returned to his hometown in Quang Nam to fulfill his dream of building a farm with his father.

In 2020, with an initial capital of more than 800 million VND, Mr. Son’s father and son began to renovate a 4-hectare garden to plant thousands of fruit trees of all kinds such as mangosteen, Thai jackfruit, areca, pomelo and propagate indigenous lemon trees. .

Pham Hong Tuan Anh applies his acquired knowledge to build a family farm and organize production according to VietGap process. Mr. Son helps his son with his decades of experience in farming and plant breeding.

The farm is arranged by father and son Pham Hong Son in a methodical and scientific way, applying organic and natural production processes.

Semi-automatic irrigation system is arranged to limit labor. Besides, the farm has bees raised to pollinate the trees. Compost from chicken manure, rotting grass and natural fish carcasses.

The method of “plant management” is applied by Tuan Anh to the farm. He said, the grass on the farm is not destroyed, because when fertilizing the plants, the excess fertilizer will cause soil degradation, the grass that grows naturally will absorb this amount of fertilizer. When the grass ends its life cycle, it will decompose to create organic matter, this is a very good natural fertilizer that helps plants continue to absorb.

“Usually, farmers will remove all the grass on the ground because they are afraid that the grass will take away the nutrients of the crop, but this is the secret to help the plants grow better. That is the knowledge I have learned from experience. Through formal training, I also want to spread this experience to many people,” Tuan Anh shared.

After more than 2 years of planting and caring, the farm has begun to bear fruit. Herds of poultry, fish and snails multiply up to thousands of children. Mr. Son calculated, with the price of lemon 20,000 VND/kg, Thai jackfruit 50,000 VND/kg, and chicken 130,000 VND/kg, an annual profit of more than 100 million VND, after deducting expenses. Not to mention the plants that are still in the growing stage. ($1=24,000 VND)

Son and his father are always ready to share experiences and provide technical advice to those who need them, with the desire to replicate the organic farm model.
