Dutch couple surprised by the beauty and service in Vietnam

After a month in Vietnam, Thomas and Sam were impressed with many places such as Ha Giang, Hoi An, and Ha Long and were surprised by the service at the resorts.

Thomas and Sam (27 years old, Netherlands) are famous on social networks with the nickname “travel couple”. Together they have traveled to 19 countries around the world.

Sharing about the reason for choosing Vietnam for the trip in January, Thomas said: “When choosing Southeast Asia, Vietnam comes to my mind because of its unique and diverse natural scenery. Vietnam also has a lot to offer. hidden beauty and unique cultural features that have not been exploited, compared to other countries in the region”.

In nearly a month in Vietnam, the couple visited famous tourist destinations such as Hanoi , Ha Giang , Ha Long , Ninh Binh , Hoi An , Phu Yen and Ho Chi Minh City . In each place, they usually stay from 3 to 5 days to experience all kinds of services from popular to high-class.

“We always try to plan to spend an extra day on each place, so we can stay longer, learn about that place more deeply than most other foreign tourists,” Sam said.

They choose many ways to move around Vietnam, which are the means that most tourists try such as motorbikes, sleeper cars, trains, limousines, taxis and planes. Among these, Thomas and Sam felt quite uncomfortable with the sleeper car. “The sleeper bus in Vietnam is not comfortable enough, it is inconvenient to go to the toilet and the service staff do not understand English and are not friendly with tourists,” the couple said and said they were willing to pay more to get the service. better service next time.

In addition to the inconvenience mentioned above, both were impressed with the S-shaped country after a month of learning and experiencing. “We find Vietnam very wonderful, with many unique points in each place we have visited,” Thomas and Sam shared.

Ha Giang is where they both wish they had more time. They rode motorbikes on rocky passes, happened to attend an ethnic funeral, drank buckwheat wine, ate Ban pork and listened to strange music played with local instruments. . “These are once-in-a-lifetime experiences,” Sam said.

Didn’t have time to go on a Halong cruise, but when they came here, Thomas and Sam liked the unique and varied shapes of rocky mountains and clean beaches, fresh seafood dishes such as sharks and worms. These are special things that don’t seem to be found anywhere else in Vietnam.

Ninh Binh and Hoi An give Thomas and Sam the impression of ancient lands. They can sit on a canoe with a boatman on foot in Tam Coc, watching lanterns hanging all over the street and thousands of flowers floating on the river at night in Hoi An. The couple agreed these were the most gentle and romantic experiences of their trip.

Arriving in Hanoi, they are impressed with street vendors on bicycles, cafes selling “exotic” drinks such as egg coffee, coconut milk coffee, and countless street food.

Regarding the service, they were surprised to experience the resort at two resorts in Tam Coc (Ninh Binh) and coral reefs in Song Cau (Phu Yen). “Didn’t think in Southeast Asia there would be beautiful resorts with views from the countryside to the beach, attentive service and exquisite decoration no less than Europe and America,” said Thomas.

The couple knew about Phu Yen resort through Travel+Leisure ‘s list of the best emerging hotels in the world in 2021, while the area in Tam Coc was suggested by friends and foreign bloggers specializing in travel reviews.

For Thomas, Tam Coc resort creates a peaceful feeling like living in his own home. The whole area has only 5 rooms, arranged like a small village with many trees and lakes. Phu Yen Resort is an overwhelming feeling with villas in the middle of a large beach, walls built of woven bamboo and thatched roofs. The resort also uses precious carpets, displaying an antique collection of more than 5,000 artifacts everywhere to create visual effects.

He also talked about his experience in the early morning watching local fishermen row their boats through the door of the fishing villa, and then walk to watch the sunrise along the beach. “We felt like we were in a land completely separate from the rest of Vietnam. It was a great spiritual healing and energizing for both,” Thomas added.

Thomas and Sam complimented the services of resorts in Vietnam when they were able to use high-quality shampoos, shower gels, professional housekeeping services and a variety of dishes from Europe to Asia.

Thomas and Sam both think Vietnam can develop a stronger resort type thanks to its potential for nature and cultural diversity. Resorts in Vietnam should follow the direction of being both environmentally friendly, using natural indigenous materials, building and decorating in a traditional regional style while applying more modern amenities such as smart rooms. Controlled by an application on the phone, the four-season swimming pool, mineral bath will create a highlight and attract foreign guests.

Closing the trip after a month, Thomas and Sam said that both budget and luxury travel bring satisfaction. “Vietnam is one of the most exciting and diverse countries we’ve ever been to.” However, the two young people hope that the next time, when they come back, the quality of transportation services will be improved, avoiding repeating the unforgettable experience like when taking a sleeper bus.
