According to history books, Lam Kinh was originally Lam Son land, the hometown of national hero Le Loi – who had merit in recruiting talented people, gathering the people to fight off the invading Ming invaders (1418-1427). In 1428, Le Loi ascended the throne (Le Thai To), established the Later Le dynasty, based the capital in Thang Long, took the year Thuan Thien, and named the country Dai Viet.

In 1430, Le Thai To changed the name of Lam Son land to Lam Kinh. Since then, the electric architecture, the temple… also began to be built here, associated with two main functions as the resting place of the Le kings when returning to worship their ancestors; It is the residence of mandarins and soldiers who are constantly looking after Lam Kinh and the area where the tombs of ancestors, kings, queen empresses of the Le Dynasty and a number of mandarins in the royal family are located.

Over hundreds of years, the Late Le architecture in Lam Kinh left almost only ruins, which are foundations and tombs. However, up to now, many relics have been studied, preserved, and restored.
